What does Group Personal Accident cover and exclude?
Scope of Cover
Accidental Death
Full sum assured is paid to the family if an employee dies due to an accident.
Permanent Total Disability (PTD)
125% of the sum assured is paid if an accident causes permanent total disability within 12 months.
Permanent Partial Disability (PPD)
A percentage of the sum assured is paid based on the type of impairment caused by an accident.
Temporary Total Disability
Weekly compensation of up to INR 5000 is provided for 100 weeks during temporary total disability.

Major Exclusions
Self-Injury or Suicide
Claims arising from intentional self-injury, suicide, or attempted suicide are not covered.
Substance Influence
Accidents caused under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicants are excluded.
Pregnancy or Childbirth
Death or injury due to pregnancy, childbirth, or related complications is not covered.
Criminal Activities
Injuries or death resulting from a breach of law with criminal intent are excluded from coverage.
War and Armed Conflict
Any injuries or death caused by war, invasion, or similar armed conflicts are not covered.
Nuclear Hazards
Claims arising from nuclear radiation, contamination, or related perils are excluded.
Service in Armed Forces
Accidents occurring while the employee is on duty with the armed forces are not covered.
Pre-existing Conditions
Claims related to venereal diseases, insanity, or pre-existing health conditions are excluded.
- If the appropriate waiver is not opted for, then the policy will not cover
- Treatment of pre-existing illnesses.
- Any treatment for illnesses/diseases within the first 30 days of the policy, unless it is an accident.
- Treatment of specified illnesses for the first year of the policy.
- Certain diseases like hernia, cataract, piles, sinusitis, etc are excluded during the first year of operation in the cover.
- Any claim arising out of or traceable to pregnancy.
- Ayurvedic, homeopathy, naturopathy or any other form of local medication.
- Alcoholism, drug abuse, and AIDS.
- Dental treatment or surgery unless it requires hospitalization.
- Cost of spectacles.
- Vaccination and inoculation.
- Cosmetic treatment.

When can I Claim?
A claim under Group Personal Accident can be registered in the below circumstances:
- Hospitalization: When an employee is hospitalized for planned treatments or medical emergencies caused by an accident.
- Emergency Ambulance Services: Expenses for ambulance transportation during an emergency are covered.
- Diagnostic Tests: Claims can be made for doctor-prescribed tests to monitor or diagnose health conditions resulting from an accident.
